Great House - Great View - Great Water - Great Fishing!!!
Accommodations: Private Home - 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s) - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 8-10)
The kitchen is fully-equipped, or you cook outside on the gas grill. You can enjoy meals inside or on the porch, which has a table with four chairs, rocking chairs, a large swing, and three ceiling fans to keep you comfortable. Our house is located in a deep quiet cove with a great view of the lake. We are in a secluded and safe location. (The kind of place where you keep the keys and fishing tackle in the boat all the time.) We have a large dock with two covered boat slips and a ladder for those relaxing swims. Safe power (GFI) is also available at the slips for bass fishermen to charge their batteries. Water depth at the dock is between eight to sixteen feet, depending on the lake level. Bream, crappie, perch, and catfish can be caught off the dock. We also have a PRIVATE BOAT RAMP and plenty of parking. The roads around the area are great for walking and bicycling as there is very little traffic. (Watch out for the deer!) Several guides are available for bass, striper, crappie, and perch fishing. They can pick you up at our dock if you like. Some will even clean your catch. (We can arrange for an old fashioned fish fry with all the trimmings if you like!) My son has a ski boat if you have anyone that would enjoy skiing. He has won several kneeboarding and wakeboarding tournaments. He is a great instructor and would love to teach you to ski, kneeboard, or wakeboard, or ride a tube. Lunch Island (also known as Bombing Range Island) is a National Purple Martin roosting area. Words cannot describe the number of birds that come in to roost during the summer months at dusk. I will be glad to arrange a trip down the lake in my boat to see this unbelievable sight! We are ten minutes away by water from Dreher Island State Park and Timberlake golf course. Our home is located between our state capitol, Columbia and historic Newberry. We can recommend several great restaurants, some within a 15 minute drive. Newberry has many restaurants, antique shops, and the Newberry Opera House, which offers an ongoing selection of nationally known artists. Columbia offers the University of South Carolina (USC) Gamecock Sports, the nightlife of Columbia's Vista, and historic Five Points for a variety of shopping and dining experiences. The Columbiana Mall, Riverbanks Zoo, Frankie's Fun Park, and the State Museum are just 45 minutes away. Children will love to visit EdVenture, an educational hands on experience located at the State Museum. All you need to bring for a great vacation is yourself!! |
